Overview
Timeline on Windows XP is not supported. However, most customers are able to install it successfully. Below are a few pointers to help you install successfully. If it does not work correctly, unfortunately, it will likely not work regardless of additional troubleshooting.
Solution
If you are attempting to install the Timeline add-in on Windows XP, we recommend the following prerequisites.
Install only on PCs that have Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). See here for more SP3 information.
If you have Windows XP (x86) with Service Pack 3, download Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Runtime Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=105522
If you have Windows XP (x86) with Service Pack 3, install .NET Framework 4 Client Profile: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17113
