How to show and style the Today Marker line

Overview

In Lucen Timeline, the Today Marker shows where the current date falls on your timeline. You can display it as a full vertical line that runs the height of the timeline, and style the line to match your slide. These settings live in the Style Pane, under Timescale Settings.

The vertical line requires the latest build. Timelines created in older versions may not show it until they are updated.

A) Where to find the settings

Open the Style Pane and select Timescale Settings, then find the Today Marker section.

B) Turn on and style the Today Marker

Step 1: Turn on the Today Marker

In the Today Marker section, toggle the marker on. When the marker is off, all of its options are off too.

Step 2: Turn on the vertical line

Toggle Vertical line on to extend the marker into a full-height line across the timeline. Leave it off to show only the marker without the line.

Step 3: Set the color

Use the Color option to choose the marker color. The line inherits the marker color, so changing one changes both.

Step 4: Choose the marker position

Set the marker position to Above, Below, or Auto.

Step 5: Show or hide the indicator

Toggle the Indicator on to display the "today" label, or off to hide it.

Step 6: Choose the line type

Pick a line type, such as Solid or Dashed.

Step 7: Set the line thickness

Choose Thin, Regular, or Thick.

C) How it looks with milestones and swimlanes

The line renders cleanly across layouts:

  • Swimlanes: the line sits above the lanes so it stays visible.

  • Milestones: the line runs through the milestone area without overlapping your shapes.

  • Tasks: the line spans the task rows above or below the time band.

The Today Marker and its line are included in themes, so the styling carries with your saved look..
